Feb 22, 2018 · It depends on what you need this for. If you truely need a calibrated source, a GPSDO is the only solution for you. It is pretty unpractical though, because it takes relatively long to lock, and you need the antenna setup as you mentioned, but its uncertainty is defined.

The advantages of GPS are: Its neater (no worries about Rubidium tubes aging if bought second hand from ebay), doesn''t get hot like the Rubidium ones and I don''t think it requires as much current as a Rubidium standard.
